Transport Minister Winfried Hermann from the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg in Germany took a test drive in a Visteon autonomous vehicle during a July 3 visit to the new autonomous driving test track in Karlsruhe. The Baden-Wuerttemberg test track provides an important proving ground for technology companies and research institutes to test new developments and services related to networked and automated driving, both in urban traffic as well as on motorways.

The minister experienced Visteon’s autonomous test vehicle, based on an Audi A6, equipped with cameras, radar and Lidar sensors for object detection and classification, as well as Visteon’s DriveCore™ autonomous driving platform.
